Create Punch Through Text Images in Affinity Photo V2

To create punch-through text images in Affinity Photo v2, follow these steps:

  1. Open Affinity Photo v2 and create a new document by selecting File > New.
  2. Select the Text Tool from the toolbar on the left-hand side.
  3. Choose your font and font size from the toolbar at the top of the screen.
  4. Click on the document where you want to add your text and type in your desired text.
  5. Once you have typed your text, select the Move Tool from the toolbar.
  6. Hold down the Control key (Windows) or Command key (Mac) and click on the text layer in the Layers panel. This will select the text.
  7. With the text still selected, click on the Layer menu at the top of the screen and select Rasterize.
  8. Next, select the Erase Brush Tool from the toolbar.
  9. In the context toolbar at the top of the screen, choose the brush size you want to use to erase parts of the text.
  10. Use the Erase Brush Tool to erase parts of the text where you want the background to show through.
  11. Once you have erased the parts of the text you want, select the Move Tool again and adjust the position of your text as desired.
  12. Save your finished punch-through text image by selecting File > Save or File > Export.

That’s it! You have successfully created a punch-through text image in Affinity Photo v2.
